Posalux is part of Biel’s watchmaking and industrial heritage

For more than 80 years, Posalux has contributed to Biel’s industrial influence. Today, this history is officially becoming part of the city's own story.

Through the launch of the “Biel Watchmaking City” project in October 2026, the City of Biel/Bienne, the Swiss Society of Art History, and the New Museum Biel are highlighting the companies, buildings, and sites that have shaped the watchmaking industry and the precision engineering ecosystem for which the region is renowned.

As part of this initiative, Posalux’s historic headquarters has been selected as one of the sites illustrating the evolution of Biel’s industry and its impact far beyond Switzerland’s borders.

From watchmaking expertise to a global micromachining manufacturer leader

The Posalux story began in 1943 in Biel, at the heart of a region recognized worldwide for its expertise in watchmaking and the production of high-precision watch components.

The company’s first innovation was a machine designed to automate the application of luminous paint on watch dials. This breakthrough marked the beginning of an industrial journey driven by a constant pursuit of precision, quality, and performance.

Over the decades, Posalux expanded its expertise and became a leading provider of micromachining manufacturing, high-precision drilling, laser machining, and industrial automation technologies. Today, indutrial miromachining industrisal applications developed in Biel support some of the world’s most demanding industries.
